I have been driving to work every day and passing a red GTI, new this year, with the Bi-Xenons and LED DRLs. Have to say it gives the GTI a massive pop in terms of front visuals.
Had a builder reverse a tray truck into my GTI bonnet last month (OUCH). Enquired as to whether it is possible to retrofit LED DRLs after the smash, with Barloworld VW - who replied that it is not. (I have halogens).
guys there's lots of speculation here about costs, hassle etc. but has anyone actually bought a set of these for Aus use and installed them yet? I've seen a thread about LED tail lights but can't make head (or tail) of that either! Would be good to geto some prices and hard facts about the install - a decent sticky post maybe?
From what I can see, if you already have the Bi-Xenon headlights, then it should just be a ~$1500 for the new DRL Bi-Xenon lights plus a coding change.
If you don't already have the Bi-Xenon headlights, then it'll cost a minimum of $3,000 to fit them and make the car road-legal.... if you can even find all the parts and can do the labour yourself etc.... it's really no different in that case to any other regular headlights to Xenon projection conversion.
What about a straight swap for standard GTI headlamps for a set of the Dectane's with LED DRLs?
You may be best to ask Dectane. I don't seeing a member commenting on purchasing a set, or mentioning it in their sig, or pictures etc.
