Maybe just not only the last time. I always use a torque wrench for the plug & the filter as some people tend to over tighten & get it as tight as they can. My failing can be not tight enough without using a torque wrench. I have owned my Mk5 since new & it probably won't ever need a new sump or a thread repair. I sometimes get mocked for using a torque wrench but it always works for me.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
