And what japanese car allows you to use the radio when the ignition is off?

Similar to cars not allowing the headlights to work when the ignition is off or the brake lights.

Handy feature for some (more or less for passengers I'm guessing), not one I've needed as of yet.

I'm a bit of a James May when it comes to keeping the volume knob facing the right way up

    We have had/have
    FPV Fords
    XR Fords
    Astra Sri Turbo
    Clio Renaultsport 182 cup
    Honda Civic R
    BMW X5

A wide range of vehicles from different ilks, and they all seem to toot the horn with key/fob out. Whoever said fords brake lights dont work when the key is out - correct.

Strange why VeeDub would omit this function... Id find that annoying tbh.

    Your right.....I never noticed it...

'No key - No horn' very frustrating. Especially if your parked and you slowly watch an idiot back into you, your'e helpless and it's slo-mo

That's hilarious. So the car can draw a ton of current for the radio (+ Dynaudio for me, draws quite a bit), and yet they've decided to deactivate the steering wheel controls when the coil's not on to presever battery life!

While you at it, see if you can work out why sounding the horn on a VW kills the VCDS connection. Wierd. Ross Tech could not give me a reason when I asked them a while back.

How about when you're picking someone up, say from school, a train station, a shopping center/mall, etc.

You don't have to yell at us just because it makes no sense to you. A horn is supposed to be a safety device, so you'd think it would always work - of course we all hope we don't need it.
