    Question knocking noise in boot

    Hi All,

I have a knocking noise in my boot when going over bumps.. had vw dealer look into it and they concluded that it is from the boot tray, but did not offer the reason/fix..Has anyone had the same issue fixed or knows if my car may be missing a part that would be preventing the noise...
    Cheers!

The cord that holds the rear tray had large plastic lugs on the ends these hang down a bit when the tray is down and swing back and forth when you go over bumps. You could either remove the tray and the cords or live with it. It occurs on all the cars.

Yeah, it's due to the rubber balls from the ropes suspending the parcel shelf knocking against the tray. Darn swinging balls

    Tray

    Hi all,

If you had bought a MKIV, ours have automatic retractors for those cords so no swinging balls here

Just wrap your balls in soft rubber

I don't recall the sound in my 2.0FSI comfortline. I guess the 118TSI has bigger balls (or balls that swing around)

Anyone else who's owned a 2FSI upgrading to 118TSI notice this too?
