So I got my letter, its a letter telling me another letter is coming.

Volkswagen is currently preparing the campaign and will contact you in writing again when the required parts for your vehicle are available. If, in the meantime, should you experience a problem with your vehicle please contact a Volkswagen dealership.

Well at least you know they know your vehicle is in the recall.

You didnt expect an appointment date to fix it did you.

They probably need a bit of time to get 28,000 mechatronic units made let alone delivered to Australia and distributed around the dealers

And probably focus on vehicles which are currently no more useful than a giant paper weight which can also produce heat.

Do you own one or just slagging off

Mine has given no trouble along with thousands of others.

All Makes have problems and recalls Its how the maker responds and VW have failed with this.

I have no hesitation in driving mine and it has never let us down in any way.

Indeed their response has been less than stellar here in Australia. And the effect will be resale values in years to come the 2009-2012 range of Golf etc will always have a cloud over their head.

My response was really to point out that cars that are currently under the recall but arriving on flatbeds will get priority first - As they should and that anyone with a VW is still propelling itself in a satisfactory manner will most likely have to wait.

Well, that's obvious. How many are currently arriving on flatbeds?

Was told by the local dealer yesterday they would not be able to look at my car if it developed any issues with the DSG as it was not part of the recall.

They just don't have the time available for non-recall investigations. Our five year purchased factory warranty all seems overkill now that the "unofficial" back dated warranty is in place. Still, other crap will fail eh

Still need to find a local independant for servicing.

(I was talking to them about an issue with the rear sensors coming on and staying on - since resolved by resetting the headunit.)

Apparently this mob reckon it'll cost VW Germany a good $170 million to fully complete the recall:
