I know a DSG tech that confidently informs me that he can repeatedly replace the clutches in a DQ200 in 2 hours. 3 Hours for a mechatronics unit is quite acheivable.

Basic adaptation is carried out on the car as well, yes. Don't worry about how long it takes my friend, there is nothing to worry about
Mayb in your perfect world Gav!! But unfortunately not in dealer land.
But I also know many techs and I can tell you that the gear oil never was changed during a mechatronics replacement. All I'm saying is that I hope Volkswagen get the guys to do it by the book which is the right way to do things. The owner may not know the gear oil was changed but their receipt should have all parts attached to it if the dealers are being paid by Volkswagen AG for the wty work. That way owners are satisfied they are getting proper job done.

They have to refill the gear oil mate, they will lose most of it once the mechatronics unit gets pulled off. I too don't trust vw service departments but for them not to refill a litre or more of gear oil is a long bow to draw even for vw service centers. Changing the oil isn't required because its meant to last the life of the vehicle on the first factory fill but top up is.

Ryan, yeah but not positively. There is all the dq250 and dq500 owners that still are being ignored.

Received my letter yesterday. I've had the shudder a few times but no complete power loss thank goodness. I'm not sure if it's connected but I've started getting a loud thud if the car hits a slight depression or bump in the road under acceleration.

I also had the DSG firmware updated at the last service, did they introduce some torque control? With traction control off if you start to get some wheel chirp it seems to still drop the power and change gear?

Some of you may have viewed this, not sure I'm going to be a repeat VW customer unless there is some serious attitude readjustment with the CEO / Board in Australia - Volkswagen Australia Defective DSG Recall - YouTube
