I'm with NRMA for Golf R from tomorrow when I pick her up.
Premium wise, NRMA was the cheapest at $1160/yr.

Just a quick question regarding the agreed value, should I insure for more then the cost of the car or less?

I got a online quote for $800.58 for comprehensive with agreed value of $48500(golf gti 5 door MY12), no windscreen and no car hire.

    Good, you guys think?

What anyone thinks on cost is not really relevant, cause premiums are so specific to the individual. There is no possible way for me to get something as cheap as $800, yet I know other members on this forum pay as little as $300....

As for whether to insure for more than you paid or not....
I personally insured for the "RRP Onroad Cost" of my car + all the options etc. Whilst this was significantly more than I paid, it allowed some room so that I wouldn't need to call NRMA back and bump up the coverage after fitting mods and accessories. It also allowed some buffer in case I could obtain the same deal again etc.

I just joined up with NRMA... insured a my12 Golf R for $680. With a $600 excess. I am 22yrs old so its dirt cheap for the car/age.. agreed value 60k too!

    thanks corey,

I think $800 is reasonable but I'll try your advice with RRP.

I can't believe how cheaply the non Sydney people can insure for. I have a mate with a Porsche Cayman S probably worth double my Eos, he moved from near where I live to the Blue Mountains, he used to pay a similar price to me for insurance, he received a $900 refund on his premium when he moved!
