    Installing Heated Leather seats

    Hi all,

I’d be interested in upgrading my original cloth Golf seats to the heated leather ones. Does anyone know the process or if it would be plug and play (obviously new climatronic cluster would be required

    Thanks!

From what I understand they can basically drop in along with required wiring harness and the controls then be coded with VCDS to let the car know that option is installed.

If you're going to the trouble of putting in a new climate contol interface, look at getting the Mk7 one instead of the stock one. It provides a more modern look which is nice. I can't find my photos of that at the moment, but if I find them I'll post them back here for you.

There is some info here: Climate control conversion

Hey The_Hawk, thanks for the help! I was really hoping VCDS wasn’t needed as I don’t have the equipment or knowledge to do this. Hoping for plug and play with a new wiring harness Installing Heated Leather seats but all good, thanks for that mate

Also thanks for the suggestion for climate control if I decide to go ahead, I might look into that too

I'm sure there will be someone near you with VCDS who can lend a hand in exchange for a beer or two

I’ve been researching heavily and some people have purchased a wiring loom from Kufatec and said that this is required along with painful VAGCOM work. If someone that has done this modification could help. It would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping to grab all parts from the GTI that I require (I.e. leather seats, wiring harness and climate control) and plug and play but it seems it isn’t going to be this easy.

This is an example of the post I saw talking about it:
    Yes, you can.

I did it in my Mk 6 Golf by getting some second hand leather seats (which all have the heating elements in them). The 2007-8 Mk5's had a wiring update so the later Mk 5 is the same as the Mk 6 for wiring and plugs on the seat side (means you could potentially use R32 seats). I also needed the wiring loom which i got from Kufatec (**** instructions) and the switch for the dash (in my case the climatronic unit with heated seat function).

You need to turn the function on with VAGCOM and you'll need the wiring diagrams in the electrical manual i posted a link to in the Manuals forum. It's a pain in the butt to do but I honestly don't know how i lived without it now. Heated seats are amazing.
