    Inconsistent Starting GTI

I've noticed that sometimes it takes my GTI a while to start. Sometimes I actually have to turn it over for quite a few seconds before it comes to life. Sometimes it does not occur, but I don't think the cold is much of a problem in inner city Sydney! Occasionally I turn the engine over and release the key to find out the car has in fact not started at all. Even my 20 year old mx-5 started quicker. Could it be battery related? I've only had the car six weeks an it does not seem to have any other issues when it runs. It sounds smooth as silk. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Could be anything - First thing, take it to the dealer to have it diagnosed.
