Hi guys,
I recently was struck with the P0301 code 'Cylinder 1 misfire' and from doing some searches I see it's a common problem. It was already booked to go in for a 90,000km service this Thursday. I rang around a few dealers today and seemed to be an average of $94-107 for each coil but it had to be ordered from Germany. What do you all recommend for replacement ones? It currently has the 06h905115 version, I've been told they are now superseded by the 07K905715F. I am assuming they will want to do all 4 (which I guess makes sense) but is $400 for a set of coils too much? If so I'd like to try source a second hand one to get me going and then order a new set elsewhere if that's the case. The car is standard/un-modified.
Thanks.

Most people buy the Audi R8 coilpacks in a set of 4, as per Brad's link above. Highly recommended.

It's commonly number 3 that goes
Put injector cleaner into the tank and see if that helps
At 90k you may need to have the inlet runners and back of the valves cleaned
A sure sign is if you don't use the car for 3 or 4 days and then when it starts it's rough for a few minutes
The red coil packs are electrically identical but look way cool

+1 for BMR R8 coil packs and that number 3 is often the first to go.
I've gone through two full sets of coils in 100,000km. Only one failed each time but I replaced the lot. I keep meaning to buy a spare set and keeping at least one coil in the car in case I lose another one...
