For me, it has to be the Alfa Romeo Giulietta (with the 125Kw 1.4L multi-air).

Gorgeous to look at, apparently quite well made and exciting to drive. Finally an Alfa that you can buy with the head and the heart.

yep for me the alfa is about the only thing tickles the fancy, but thats a while away, plus you probably wouldnt buy one in the 1st year, beign a new model probably give them a year or 3 to get right so probably golf gti what am stuck with hehe

I'd have to say a Holden Cruze when the 1.4turbo comes out. I was Very impressed with fit an finish and interiors in it. Bit sparse on features but great value for money and a good looking car. No doubt more reliable than my mk6 too lol.

If you put the Holden badge out of your mind, there is no doubt that the Cruze is a very handsome little car. And very well screwed together too, although the quality of materials inside aren't Mk6 standard, it is all designed nicely and feels very solid. The only problem (apart from the badge) with the Cruze is the current drivetrain.

And what, enjoy the solace that comes from knowing that it is a Daewoo built in South Korea?

    Great topic for a thread!

Was thinking about this, looked at the holden cruze, but have had holden for the last 5 year(company rep wagon) and did want to experneice the typical ****e service from holden service depts.

    Considered the

Honda Civic (my mother and inlaw loved it....so that was a quick no)
Ford Focus - that about to get a update, plus the ford badge
Mazda 3 - the big slab of plastic on the dash looked cheap
Peugeot 308 - nice car, but why get this, when the golf is similarly priced!
Citroen C3 - car now is getting too old, design has been around for ages
    Toyota Corolla - no
Mitsubishi Lancer - steering wheel does not telescope - for me any was a big deal in purchasing a car

End of the car, these car have been based off the golf over the year, so why get something like a golf, when you can just get a golf

Cheers guys, the above if my favourite golf ad, sums it up really

That aside it just did not have the handling of a base Golf (albeit one with alloys)... For me that killed it..

It would have to be a toss up between an Audi or BMW. Geez...it took long enough to decide when my Commodore lease was coming to an end what to get next and I hadn't even considered a Golf, but very happy I did.
