Another random call from ANZ. Told them I was happy without the finance and then they offered 7.5%. Tempting but I think I might just go the no finance route to save hassle.

Comparing rates directly is a recipe for trouble. Always check the monthly repayments and whether they include or exclude GST. A lot of finance companies (including VW) quote their rate exclusive of GST. This is then added to the monthly payment.

Absolutely correct. So while VW had better interest rates, the true cost of finance (as indicated by the actual repayment figures) was much higher than the advertised rate and not as good as what I got from the lender i'm probably going to go with.
