Sorry to hear that it has turned out to be your car sman66.
If I can offer any advice, that would be to remain calm and friendly, but be clear and firm (and reasonable) in what you would like to occur.

Just remember that the dealer is probably just as frustrated as you at this situation as it's disappointing, costs them time and money, and it's something completely outside of their control too!

Good luck and I hope it comes to an agreeable conclusion.

Yes - good luck sman66. It sure must be frustrating as hell, though as already stated here it is probably not the dealers fault, though I am sure that if they are reasonable that they will be able to negotiate something with you that is hopefully acceptable to both parties.

I am expecting my car within the next couple of weeks now with the same dealer. Not sure if you are dealing with Nathan or someone else from PWVW. I have found him to be pretty good so far and have no issues, but I sure hope this doesn't happen to my car.....!!! and more to the point if it does that I am told about it.

As I have said earlier - these problems with the system need to be addressed somewhere along the line as these activities are just criminal.... but then we don't live in an ideal world ... and then again I am a "there are no problems only solutions"kinda guy.

    Good Luck

Yes. That does indeed suck. Let us know how you get on, I agree, stay calm and reasonable and you will undoubtably get the best outcome.

    Glad I didn't order Satnav!

Yeah - me too - no SATNAV!

I wonder where the stolen SATNAVS are going?? Are they traceable by security number etc, these days with all the electronics on cars and built in security you would think that maybe a car would be programmed from factory to not accept a non registered or mated unit?? But then I guess there are always ways around with a PC and a cable and a bit of know how huh?

question - can the RNS units be installed in other cars?? if they fit - maybe a base model or a skoda, etc??? Otherwise the market must be driven by other golf owners as someone has to buy them to give the thieves a reason to steal them ...yes?

So next time you are down at your local and some guy is trying to flog you a SATNAV, tell him to P....s off as one day it might be one out of yours or someone you knows new golf...

There are several ebay sellers who's items are so far below VAG's prices that it makes you wonder... many members here have purchased items through the ebay sellers.

Yes, the RNS units can be installed in Skoda's and Seats. In fact, the Skoda and Seat sat navs are just renamed RNS-510s (Skoda calls it the Columbus or something like that).

Oddly its due to get in just 2 days after yours, so the race could well and truly be on my friend.....
haha, ok the race is on!! Mine stopped at Zeebrugge, LeHavre then South Hampton. One day in each port. Last known position was entering North Atlantic Ocean but now dropped off the radar for now.

I am also expecting the Glorious Leader to be the bearer of another car, but my route involves a stop in Melbourne and a drive on the back of a truck up the hume to Sydney - so Langers, old boy, the race is on with who gets dealer delivery first.
N.B gotta love that name "Glorious Leader "

Went down to the dealership to look at the damage.
The car looked great, and no other issues apart from the SAT NAV being missing.
Luckily the thief must have done this several times already and he was considerate enough to disconnect the wiring plug from the back of the SAT NAV. He apparently had the tool needed to remove the unit cleany...after all a damaged SAT NAV 'aint worth much' as the technician pointed out.He only bent one of the 3 SAT NAV connectors a little bit (had to strain to see the bend). They are replacing the connectors and replacing the fascia that has a 5mm scratch on it (although also hard to notice unless you know its there)...in the end it was more the thought of the car being tampered with that was an issue.
Received an apology and boot liner for free and a few other accessories.
Will be picking the car up late this week or Tuesday next week at the latest.
Glad to put this all behind me and start enjoying my car...well for 2 days anyway till I go overseas..way too short a time to run it in ;-(
    thanks all for the support.
    And Langers.....I remained very calm.

Glad things have worked out calmly as we suggested and that both you and the dealer have come to a good arrangement. Trust me in that you'll forget about the long wait, and this issue, once you take delivery and start enjoying how great these cars are to drive and live with day-to-day
