Yeah... there are literally train lines running through the Wolfsburg facility which go straight to Bremerhaven!
But then the cars can sit at the port for a few days (to a week) before they're loaded up onto the ship.
Yes, I think the build is completed in one day. Afterall, Wolfsburg plant can do ~3000 cars per day.
Most likely mine gets built on the 20th and then transported by land from Wolfsburg to Bremerhaven (~250km) and just made the loading on the 26th.

My tracking starts very soon. GTI will be born on Day 3 of Week 7 and is numbered 0440 which I guess will be the 440th car to be built that day or week. My calculation puts it at Wednesday (9 Feb) next week (assuming Monday is day 1 of the week).
The excitement is once again building.

Anyone else on the Queen Sapphire? Due 14th March
LOL i know about the excitement, every month or so it reaches some kind of milestone that puts a smile on my dial
Having not gone through the "order to spec" experience before does anyone have a ball park idea as to how long from the time the car is off the boat to it arriving at the dealership? Cheers
(off load at Port Kembla going to Sydney metro)
My dealer told me ten days; but that is a boat arriving in Melbourne when the car is coming to Hobart; so it should take significantly less time to get from the NSW coast to Penrith. The only big delay item is customs I believe, clearing customs quickly can ensure you get your new ride just as quick, or alternatively a delay will ensure you have an extended delay.

If you allow three weeks, you usually won't be disappointed. However, customs or quantine can hold up the car and delay the release to Patricks, who do the compliance. Sometimes the cars go to 3rd parties for the dealer delivery, and then get delivered to the dealers.
Hye fellas,
ive been informed that my car was build last week, and the dealer has now given me the comm number.
But from reading the OP i can see i need the VIN number. When does this become available? And does it have a different name that the VW dealers would know it by?
Also how can i check what boat it might be on? Ive seen lists posted previously, but cant see it at the moment?
Thanks
Hey Mashes, you'll need the VIN or Chassis number (same number). If the car was built last week, then the dealer can give it to you. I asked my dealer for the NADCON print out which has all of this information and more on it. (so you can check they got it all correct too!)
Once you've got those details, have a read of the first page on this thread, its got the boat tracking info in detail
