I merged this thread here, because it's indicated on the first page about the 2 to 3 weeks through compliance etc.
I'm also awaitng my 2010 Golf R delivery. It's now gone through production (wk 3 and now on a WW ship called FAUST.
I've been stalking the dealership and got the VIN. Through posts on ship tracking found on this site (thanks to all) I've been tracking the sh on the ships voyage. I have found a terrific an Shipping Movements App on my iPhone, so now (giving the dealer a break) I'm following the 39 day voyage to Melbourne. She's due 6/11/10. I expect to be driving her mid/end of November following compliance and dealer stuff.....It's very exciting, but I will possibly never wait this long for a new car again, it's killing me. I had little patience to begin with, now I'm obbsessed with the arrival of this car! My wife says I should get a life - sadly I reckon she's right!

There's an app for that?
do you mind sharing the full app name?
my ship doesn't come up in the link in the tracking thread!
and apparently i don't have a life either
Mr_Bob,
Very happy to share.....the iPhone app is called 'Ship Tracking' I think it's A$2.49 download off the App Store in iTunes.
My recent experience is that you need:
Chassis / VIN number (from dealer)
Add Chassis into Cargo ID field on WW website site
It will come up 'Not Found' until your vssel is actually loaded onto her ship!
Once vehicle is loaded, the fun begins...
With the iPhone app you can track her all the way home..Also found a great website on my desktop computer called: Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions
It tracks everything and interfaced with Google Earth, so all ships -all over the world. It's a ripper....
Now -Sharing this info with my fellow tragics, means my life does have meaning... Thanks for the opportunity to share!

Thanks for the info Darren. The information and links in your post are already in the 1st post of this thread, but if someone can confirm the details for the iPhone app, I may add that to the 1st post
Thanks Darren!
My car was loaded a couple of weeks ago,
My vessel name is "Bess" the tracker says it left South Africa on the 24th Sept
but the live position tracker doesn't locate it. (only shows a tug called Bess, no cargo ships)
Might give the app a go later
OK, according to the iPhone App, there are two x Bess (cargo and tug). The cargo Bess shows up on her way to Freo (due to arrive on Oct 5 @10pm).Bess left Durban on 24/9/10 @6.08pm.....
Sounds like I've just verified what you possibly already know...
I haven't tried to locate Bess on my other desktop system, I have a few customers interupt my search....Give it a go

This is weird.....Bess is not located on: Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions but it does appear on the iPhone app 'Ship Tracking'.
Not sure why, perhaps search the freight company for a schedule on Bess arrivals at the various ports till yours. Then back track with other details!! Can always ring dealer for a VW Aust update, they should be able to help with more info, if just to verify what you know.
Keep me posted
Darren

The last updage from the vessel was 6 days ago, (circa 24/9) so I think that the transmitting beacon and/or receiving station is not updating correctly.... Unless something's happened to the vessel (I doubt) I think it will randomly just appear on the charts once it's in range of an operational beacon...
Meanwhile, its not long till she arrives!
