Guys,
Once again thanks for your supportive info. Dont want to create any friendly arguments about when or not the VIN is available. Probably forgetting all about the car till it arrives sounds like a good idea.
I was just really curious to use the web sites in the 1st post to track the car.
Was going to buy some new wheels before it arrived as well but that is probably also best left till after delivery.
I usually replace my cars every 3-4 years but have always bought demonstrators or near new 2nd hand. Must be over 20 years since I bought a new car. Might be another 20 before I do it again if one has to wait 4-5 months.
I got my build week yesterday ( 38 ) I ordered in June, now waiting for NADCON table.
Saturday just past (19/08/10), the dealer printed all the NADCON info for both my orders. Extracts below.
Golf R
"Entry Dealer System" is 26/05/10 (aka ordered)
"Handover to Production" is 04/09/10
"Checkpoint 8 Handover to Sales" is 24/09/10
"Arrival at Final Destination" is 23/11/10
Polo
"Entry Dealer System" is 12/05/10 (aka ordered)
"Handover to Production" is 02/06/10
"Checkpoint 8 Handover to Sales" is 29/07/10
"Arrival at Final Destination" is 31/08/10
Just to clarify, I misread the info supplied to me. The dealer sent me a printscreen of NADCON on 03/08/10 which had the Vehicle ID/Chassis/Eng Numbers. But as you can see from the info above, the car had already been built by that stage. Appologies for the confusion caused.

There's also at least two routes that the ships take, like completely different oceans and stuff.... lol, I haven't tracked any of the boats personally, but I know that some go through one of the canals (Panamara or Sewers) and the other route doesn't go through one or something... (can't be bothered trying to find it). Anyway, there is over a weeks difference between the routes...
