It probably means delivered to the port, because from there on in you can't track it. It sits on the docks for around 2 weeks (sometimes less), while it goes through customs. After that the dealer needs a few days to detail and prepare for delivery.
If the car has been ordered or is on the ship, you can't view it before you place a deposit - but you can view that it is on the boat and track that it's on the way and what you ordered.
I placed my order, but checked the car at the dealership before they registered it... a good tip from a fellow forum member....
KennyC, mine isn't a GTI, it's a 118tsi..... got it from Barloworld. Xen (pronounced Zen), was the salesman and he has been very obliging... answered all my questions so far and bent over backwards to assist me.
VW19, The one I had written off was Candy White... but it was a lovely looking car - a much nicer white than most other cars. Sometimes white can look a bit boring and/or cheap... but not in a golf. It looks classy!
I couldn't get another white one, but I think I'll be very happy in black as well!
