I have a right to be annoyed and/or concerned...as others may be as well.
It may be 'the way it is' but we dont have to be happy about it..
I am sure when we eventually get our cars we will all be happy and on posting on another thread...
    K thanks bye!
You have more than a reason to be annoyed.
I would be asking for some form of compensation, either in the form of a discount (people are getting the free onroads deal from cars ordered months ago that are delivered this month) or with free accessories.

When you do finally get your car, I would be checking specifically for two things.

    - damage around the stereo area. Since the MK6 has a shroud that is easy to remove, they will hopefully replace this if it was a stolen stereo.

    - damage to the car at all. Check under the car for any signs of overspray or anywhere for paint mismatching. At a friends workshop many years ago the majority of work was coming from brand new cars damaged in transit. At the time it was new Magnas that had been driven off car carriers too quickly and almost ripping off the side sills. If the drivers took more time and chocked the wheels it wouldn't have happened, but they just drove the cars as quick as they could on and off, and any damage wasn't their issue.

Mate, nobody likes waiting and if the car is delayed everybody gets annoyed, so no need to tell us that we take the stand of the car companies and so on, because at least I don't.

I hope you get your car soon.

My car took 4 weeks to get to the dealer when people in melbourne's cars took 9 days from the same ship?
    Should I have been compensated?

If your sales person told you 4 months and you believed him when others have been waiting 9 months, then shame on the sales guy for using the "promising it quicker than other dealers tactic". But if you'd spoken to other dealers and had been told longer and decided to go with this guy because they promised quicker... then shame on you for falling for that too.

In the end, it shouldn't matter whether a car gets to Australia and then takes 9 days, or 5 weeks. What is important is the overall time and whether you had any time conditions in your contract. If you did and you've exceeded the overall time, then yes, you are entitled to some compensation. If you don't, then you're not. Plain and simple.

Guys - we're given all this NADCON and tracking info because Volkswagen are being nice to us. They are under NO OBLIGATION TO GIVE YOU THE INFORMATION. If enough people give Volkswagen a hard time because you're upset that Patricks or whatever are taking too long, then I can see them doing what most other companies do, and just not give you any info. Your car will be here in about 6 months, see ya then, bye.

If you can't handle having to wait for a car, then I suggest next time, you buy floor stock. It'll take away the stress that you're having so much trouble dealing with.

If that seems harsh, then I apologise. Many of us have been through this before, including myself. But seriously...

It may not be true, but if it is, then build times may be affected if those parts can't be sourced from other plants already making them.

Also the fact that cars coming out of Japan are starting to slow, you will notice that the demand for euros will increase putting further delay times on orders.

For me, it's good to read the current wait times on orders/shipping/processing, much like it's still interesting to read what people have paid for cars.
I was watching a documentary/segment on VW a few weeks ago where some VW reps were talking of their recent success in Australia and how they plan to increase sales in Aus so much so that they are considered as one of the biggest sellers in Aus - hopefully this means a plant in AU and lesser waiting times for us!

They also mentioned that VW do not source any parts from Japan and that their cars will by no means be affected by the recent disasters over there.

That's extremely unlikely. Australia's land, utilities, tax, and labour costs are too high for it to be financially viable. Even for Holden, Ford, and Toyota, they couldn't survive without the large government hand outs. But that's a discussion for a thread of it's own!

I hope things turn out that way. Whilst VW themselves may not source any parts from Japan, it's possible that some of VW's suppliers do. But hopefully most suppliers have multiple component sources anyway.

Do you have any details on the doco/segment?

Here's the artice (good read). I did see it on TV somewhere too.

"Volkswagen is unaffected by the Japanese crisis and Koeckler said there will be no impact on its supply of any vehicle or part locally."

For what it's worth - my car has taken 11 business days to get from the boat docking, for it to be ready for pickup. Boat docked in Brisbane on 25th May. I pick it up this Thursday 9th June.

DreamensioN - was that on the morning carol. The Morning carol docked here at Port Kembla first thing in the morning on Saturday 28 May. I think it docked at Brisbane then on 30 May if I recall the shipping schedules, plus - sadly enough I actually tracked it to Brisbane just for the hell of it. I kind of became attached to that ship and will probably have a look now and again just to see where she is - sad huh ..lol!!!!

My car was unloaded off the MC on Saturday 28 May at Port K. Hopefully my car is already at Ingleburn, not far from my dealer going through compliance.

11 days is pretty good compared to some of the stories I have heard.... but if your car was on the MC then it will be more like 9-10 as it docked at brissy on 30th May

    Well done!

lol JPanDAX. I still check where the Morning Camilla is every now and then. It seems it's been captured by pirates or something though... it's been untrackable for 102 days now!
