I was sold on the DSG after the first drive of a 118TSI last year. Not so great in a TDi IMHO. For an old cog swapper like me who learned to drive with a 3 speed crash box on an old FJ holden (in the 1970's) and driving some ancient trucks, I still enjoy the manual change. Gives me a feeling of control. But the DSG can do it faster, and from some test driving, better, than I can.

Enjoy the Golf (I will be tomorrow!)

I prefer to drive a manual but the DSG is a very good box. There were a couple of reasons I went with the manual, and one was that it meant I could spend more on the options I wanted. I'm also going to keep buying a manual until I can't. For now, at least, I've also heard there's no real issues with resale.

Might consider a particular ACT dealer when I next need a new VW, though....

They are damn good. I didn't end up buying from them, mainly because I had my heart set on RB, but excellent service. When the time comes I'll buy from them.
