Selling a Mk6 Golf, what should I ask / expect?

Hey everyone,

Ive just received a job offer to the UK. Start date will be in 2 months.

I have to sell my golf cause clearly I wont be able to drive it.

Wondering how much I can expect?

Its a Silver Mk6 Golf
118 TSI Comfortline
Metallic Paint
Reverse Parking Sensors
Tinted Windows
Mats
done 4000kms
Dec 2009 build, MY10 model.

Considering the above, is 30k realistic?

I know the site says 26-29 (or there abouts), but thats based on 20,000km, mines only done 4000.

Anyone on this forum know anyone who wants a golf? lol

Shame it's an 09 build... this means a dealer would likely be offering you an 09 price.

The redbook page for an 09 118TSI DSG is here. Private sale price of $26k-$28,700, assuming mileage between 15,000 and 25,000. Given your mileage and options, I'd think $30k is achievable, but you'd be much more likely to get that sort of money if you sell privately. Do you have friends or family in Australia that could sell the car for you after you leave?

Yeah I do have family who could sell it after I leave (2 months time).

I was just wanting to sell it ASAP to ensure i get the maximum possible.

See what people are getting for 118's now brand new and undercut it by $1000.
Also look on carsales etc and see if there are any similar to yours.

Yeah im gonna chuck it on carsales. Hard to gather a competative price because most of the MY10 2009 cars on there are 'demo' or from a dealer.

I think I would like 30k for it, ill be down some money, but not much.

If anyone knows anyone interested let me know.

Hey guys,

I have had a change of circumstances and it is currently looking like that having the MK6 GTI (which I waited 6 months for last year) is something that may need to be sold.

I am looking at travelling overseas this year for quite sometime and do not see the point in paying off a $13,000 car loan while im travelling.

So this is what my car has (yes I am aware that options dont account for much on a 2nd hand car)

Candy White
DSG
3 Door
Sunroof
Park Assist
Adapative Chassis Control
Media Device Interface
Sat Nav (RNS 510)
Bluetooth (9WZ) (forgot what its actually called, but its the proper VW Kit with voice dialling, stored phone numbers on the RNS510 and works with the white screen inbetween the speedo)
Reversing Camera
Euro Plates

So pretty much every option except Leather, Dynaudio and Electric/Heated Seats and Xenons.

Currently sitting on about 10,000KM

MK10 model year, I got it in August 2010 (after a 6 month wait).

Looking at carsales for victoria, the asking price for GTI's with low KM's is around the 45K Mark.

Would I be best to be asking for this? or is it too much, too little?
