How to Disable ESP on Golf R

The mod being discussed on VWVortex will disable the ESP completely - it won't be re-enabled by a touch of the brakes. Only by switching ESP back on or restarting the car will it kick in.
Ah yes, I did encounter that "brake on" activation not longer after getting my R

Someone needs to get clever and have either a quick switch to flick it off after braking or code out the brake on effect ?

    Is that even possible.

Still, I'd rather use a car like an MX5 for track use or something like the turbo enabled 86 that was at the Hot Tuner challenge than a Golf R

The R handles like a wet sponge without some serious suspension work

Well, that is the question. And I'd say the answer would come down to the version of ABS Controller in your car. I'd be surprised if a coding change would disable ESP for controllers prior to late 2011, as VW didn't offer that feature on the Golf in any market (that I know of).

Just tried this in my MY11.5 Golf R and the new coding was rejected

Must only work on North American vehicles.

What version of the ABS module do you have, Lucas?

Ta mate. If you have VCDS, the module scan will show it.

The coding is completely different in mine maybe the MY12s are a bit different or yes just the US/Canadian ones. There is probably a combination there that works but it would take some time to work out plus there are some weird errors that pop up when you try and plugin different digits, in fact even when programming the original digits the module seems to have an issue at times so I think VCDS is a bit dodge in this area
You can disable it other ways but it affects steering and ABS stuff too, so can some single gen Y member with VCDS get cracking and sort this out for us

Is yours a manual or a DSG?

When buying mine a good mate who owns a manual R warned me that the ESP in the DSG models couldn't be turned off completely. A test of this theory on some dirt roads recently confirmed that although the car says 'ESP Off' in the MFD, a forced slide (ie handbrake flick in the middle of a corner) will cause the 'inactive' ESP to intervene and ruin the fun.

Did you use a different process in this video to deactivate the ESP other than just holding the button?
