just rang my dealer and he said those who signed the contract but haven't pickep their cars up will pay the amount according to the new price at the delivery date.
so don't worry guys...every dealer will do that, i reckon!!
Just had the same reponse from my dealer as Roy did. Said that I can either have $200 of assesories or knock it off the price at the end..
So yeh, seems like all dealerships will do it.

So they only reduced prices on base models and paint? What about all other expensive options.. They are all 'imported' as well.
It's the car import tariff reduction from 10% to 5% right. I remember reading an article saying the option list should be trimmed as well. It also mentioned manufacturer like Honda, whose cars are mainly made in Thailand, does not benefit from this reduction. Because Australia and Thailand already had free trade agreement.(which i assume means no tariff?) Jeez, I just realised all the Honda buyers have been ripped off!
Dave8878, the original poster, did not say that this price reduction was due to the drop in import duty. In addition, if it was, then this should have been in affect since Jan 1st, not now in February.
I'm just concerned that people are 'assuming' that this is due to the import tarriff reduction.
Well, here's the first sentence of the press release from VW Aus:
"Volkswagen has updated pricing following a duty drop by the Federal Government which will come into effect on 1st February 2010."
It's probably worth pointing out that Volkswagen is under no obligation to pass on the saving inherited by the tariff reduction, therefore the fact these reductions have been announced one month after the tariffs were cut could simply be due to the PR dept having some time off over xmas, haha.
