HELP: xenon bulb connection

Hi guys, sold my car recently and have been given a 2009 golf gti from the brother in law to drive around for a bit which needs some attention. I apologise in advance for having little general knowledge around these vehicles.

Passenger side headlight has been out since I got the car. Went to change the suspected blown headlight and noticed there wasn’t actually any headlight bulb in there at all, along with the wiring that I have now learnt goes with these bulbs. I have attached pictures to show you what I mean if I’m not making much sense.

Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction as to where I can get the correct wiring and bulb from.

Hi mate and welcome.

What you have there is an aftermarket HID headlight kit which has been fitted to the vehicle (to enhance headlight output), hence all the extra wires that go through the watertight cap on the rear of the headlights.

So one side of the car is intact, and the other side is missing the actual bulb and some of the wiring it seems - no doubt because the bulb blew or there was some kind of wiring issue (many of these kits are cheap Chinese junk hence the issues a lot of people have with them).

The solution (because i dont think you will find random bits of HID kits for sale) is to buy another cheap kit from ebay or get a higher quality kit (such as Morimoto).

For what its worth, i had a Morimoto HID kit in my MK6 GTI and it was faultless and was of nice quality. But they cost around $250 for the kit whereas you will find cheap kits on ebay for $50-100.

If you get in touch with an Automotive lighting place like Blinkwork, Yumseen or Supernova you might be able to buy just the bits you need if they have random bits lying around.
