    Hello from the US

    Hello everyone:

I have recently purchased a 2010 Mk6 GTI and wanted to share it with you. It is a GTI DSG with bi-xenons, the RNS-510, cloth interior, sunroof, bluetooth, and all of the other stuff we get here in the US. I have done a few mods to it including some front end paint work, and installing Audi A3 wheels. The car is still new, so it does not have license plates, so as a homage to its home, I installed a German vanity plate. I have also installed the euro light switch, and have LED tail lights on order. Enjoy. This is my 10th VW, and I learned to drive in one. You might say that I am sold on the brand!

Looks totally awesome with the black grill inserts painted the same colour as the body work.
Leaving the black gills like you did gives it a bit more character.
Also like the yellow fog lamps.

Not sure about the GTI badge being painted as you would lose it on the bodywork and it would just look like GT.

I would get a blacked out badge to match the black on the front.

Love your work though, clean and gorgeous example of what a GTI can be.

So you bought a GTI and then proceeded to make it look like a regular golf with a body kit?

Sorry mate, but the wheels, and front grill are not an improvement.

there were 2 goals in this design.

    1. paying homage to the best GTI of the lot, i.e. the Mk4

    2. creating a understated look. The stock GTI look with the 18" huffs is just too "look at me" look. I mean after all the GTI is just a Golf variant anyway, so why not give it some class.

I think the general consenus would be that the MK4 was the worst GTI ever. The MK4 R32 was sweet though.

As for understated? I think you have made it look like an aftermarket tuner car

I must say, you have gone in a unique direction with your mods, but hey, its all goooood.

Do you guys in the US have to have the yellow fog lights? I guess you have real fog over there, it is a bit rare here in Oz.

Anyway, welcome! Sounds like you have a lot of VW history you can share.

The Euro versions don't get the yellow fogs either - and they do get real fog there..
