Manual electric height adjustment is for halogens. Automatic electric height adjustment is for projectors and is a requirement for cars emitting over 2000 lumens (xenons).

Your 99% figure is way off the mark but most illegal mods are not harmful or detrimental to others unlike headlights that can blind other road users.

i know electric height adjustment is for halogens but most "aftermarket" Projectors for the mrk6 ive seen keep the electric height adjustment so they can still be adjusted electically. and yes 99% was an over statement lol but i travel 126ks round trip everyday to work at night on the M1 i can tell you the only HIDs that have been blinding is ones that are in relflector lights.

They seem pretty good. I'll compare more on Sunday. They do MK5 golfs. I don't believe they do Polo or Jetta

Corey - you've made your point clear (numerous times) about the legality of these or any aftermarket HID install. Thanks for your concern but perhaps you could put a disclaimer at the front page of this thread about the Australian laws and leave it at that?

Also - I am not sure what roads you drive on, but other then the occasional speed bump I dont drive over too much rough terrain in my GTI. And I honestly dont think the Auto-leveling system is quick enough to respond to someone who is driving over a speed bump. Perhaps steep long hills. Reviews of these headlamps I bought show they have a terrific cut off ...better then OEM. So I dont agree with your comments that this will dazzle on coming traffic. Save that argument for those who install cheap HID bulbs in the halogen reflector housings.

And from reviews - yes the manual leveling for halogens work on these. No - they dont corner. Again I'll be able to confirm alot more come Sunday.

The primary function of the headlamp levelling system is to compensate for vehicle loads.

The headlamp beam must either be adjusted manually by the driver, or automatically for vehicles with headlamps which emit more than 2000 lumen (i.e. discharge bulbs).

This provision exists because even with halogen bulbs (let alone discharge bulbs), one can easily dazzle oncoming traffic if the headlamp beam isn't adjusted according to vehicle load.

Consider other road users by purchasing discharge headlamps that retains and is able to utilise the manual levelling system, thus emulating the factory-fitted system.

The absence of headlamp washers can be compensated by regularly cleaning them at home.

Has anyone upgrade their Halogen to OEM Bi-xenon w/ or w/out LED DRL headlights?

i've been looking up online, i found a lot of parts in order to make it work on your vehicle,
and i found this http://oemplus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=75_108_111& products_id=1945, does anyone have any idea about this? or from somewhere else? prices are vary, from $1400-$3000USD.
Also, i found a OEM "partially functioned"(no corner turning and leveling) headlights from Hong Kong, they sell both Partially and fully function ones, 2K and 3K with the current exchange rate, does it really matter if you dont install the washer? whos gonna pull u over and say, hey ur headlights are illegal mate...

Easy fix for non cornering is a vagcom on the fog lights so they light up.

The issue really in a list of importance is the self leveling portion and then your washer. The washer would be a simple upgrade (In the scheme of things). The wiring job or modules required for the self leveling I believe is where the HF will be.

Correct me guys I assume self leveling is it just a module or modules that knows the cars angle or is there other factors such as suspension travel etc..... It's then wiring these suckers.

Your most easy work around is to find a adidas that's written off and go parts shopping....

Having said that. If the oem.plus is the deal then get that and then do the washers..... It's light reflection that's the issue as stated earlier by Corey iirc.....

some say you'll get LHD and RHD issues, but oemplus says you'll not have problem, just need to do some coding,
not sure about the washers, if i was to get the headlights, i dont wanna spend even more to put the washer on, my Halogen doesnt have auto-leveling either, its manuel leveling anyway and i've never changed the level of it its all on default.
Just wanna know if anyone has experienced upgrading the bixenon, so i'll know which deal to go... as long as it'll work and the LED DRL is ON

They sure have. In fact, this thread in which I've merged your thread into, was on the first page of thread listings. You'll find various options and opinions in here, including someone who in the past few days has received a aftermarket set of halogen replacements with LED DRLs
