Hi, does anyone knows someone who can install my HID aftermarket kit (MKVI bulb holder + HID kit included) in Sydney who doesn't charge too much and know how to do it without damaging my car? If yes please let me know!!! I've been looking around for the past few weeks and most of them either charge too much or can't guarantee that they would be able to do it!
Thanks!!!

this is an accident waiting to happen - this guy described the instrument cluster as "two round windows on the dash" in another thread. I'll be staying far away from any white gti's with HID's in Sydney....

below is an article i found a while ago. this should be sufficient to educate or warn the risks to any one wishing to illegally retrofit HID bulbs into headlights that are specifically designed for halogen bulbs.
Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply
initially i wanted bixenon in a GTI but the one avaiable in stock back then did not have the option.
i use phillips x-treme vision bulbs and am very happy with its performance.
but anyone is free to do anything with his car given that he is fully aware of the risks associated with some mods.
HID retrofit = blinding everyone
Low profile tyres = harsh ride and potential pothole damage
Blue tinted halogen bulbs = less visibility
Go all in and buy the best mods in the market = less money in the bank or huge credit cards bills :p

Yeah i thought it prob for a second since i like the look of the xenons but its easy to tell factory xenons from HID install and to me they look cheap. Plus the fact of aftermarket wiring on a new car just doesnt sit well to me esp since there are cases of cars catching fire due to the HIDs.
But an answer to your question, any auto elec should be able to do it!
This has been done and shown to be not problematic, however, you need to buy new headlight surrounds to suit an HID kit...

On a partly related point... I notice Subaru Foresters still have reflector HID lights. Always wondered how they do it? Anyone know?
Golf 7R | 5 Door | Limestone Grey | DSG | Sunroof | Leather | Driver Assist | Tint | Formerly GTi11.5
Subaru Foresters, Honda Accord Luxury widebody (the Thailand made), old Lexus GS300, old Lexus IS300, old Honda Legend; these are the cars that I am aware of that come with HIDs factory fitted in specially designed reflector headlights instead of elipsodial lenses headlights.
Out of my own curiousity I have had a very close look at the Forester HIDs headlights as my bro in law drives one, the HID bulb tube part is covered half way down and the reflector angles are different to a normal halogen reflector angles. Also comes with the jet washer too.
Conclusion, the reflectors and bulbs are specifically designed for HID from the factory, hence the beam pattern is proper and directed, not smeared everywhere and not blinding any oncoming drivers.

Hi Guys, i really like the new Golf GTI Daytime running light headlights.
They come in the xenon light update in 2011 golf gti or in the adidas.
I have seen a couple of people trying to sell just the casing but, what do i exactly need to convert a normal hologen 2010 GTI to have a full set of xenons and these DRL?
Any suggestions on a full kit option not just the casing?
