Coreying, thanks for your input, that really helps to put things into perspective. i think from what people are saying, it's basically good to get it fitted from the start go. Will take that into consideration.

If you want xenons, get factory fitted..?

Aftermarket HID lights, requirements to fit in accordance with the relevant ADR's and cost has been covered EXTENSIVELY before. Both here and on GolfmkV.
As has been said, the most cost effective and most efficient way of obtaining HIDs/Xenons is to fit them with the car from the dealer when you buy it.
Personally I have a strong dislike for the "kents" that seem to think that putting in el-cheapo ebay HID's is the best option. This is probably the thinking that sees 5 dead in a P platers car who is way above the alcohol limit (and they couldn't mention how many times as zero times anything is still zero). No respect for the law.
If that's the way to go, you may as well go ahead and order the brembo brake covers as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RED-B...Q5fAccessories
With better (blindingly bright lights) and extra stopping power from those brembo brake covers, you should be able to do 160km/h in a 60 zone no probs. FULLY SICK MATE!
Good luck.
Geez man - way to generalise! Just because someone was investigating some options doesn't mean he's going to go out and break the law 10 times a day.
In an attempt to add some value to the thread I would suggest that the advice already covered here is extremely sound - the best additions you can make to your car are those that can be done from the factory - there's far less margin for error and you also are warranty covered in the event of any problems.
I was just pointing out that this discussion has been had numerous times already and the facts are already out there for the OP to make their own decision (costs, ADR's, insurance etc)

Just suggesting the obvious answer which is if you want HID's then pay to play and get them as a factory option...easy.
There's nothing that I can do to prevent the OP from doing what they like....see what I did there?
