I'd also like to know about this. Xenon's are the one thing I miss from my Mk V GTI. As I've already got my 118TSI I would need them retrofitted as well. I'm thinking the possibility of this happening is LOW.
There is talk on the German fora about the non-GTI Mk 6 Golfs being offered with the bi-xenon dynamic lights.
Does anyone know if/when these will be available in Australia?
Thanks.

Not available as an option in the current batch. However, it is an option for VW in NZ (http://www.volkswagen.co.nz/publish/...10_13Nov09.pdf)

Hi Everyone
I thought i might pose this question to all the members out there, given the price of Xenon Headlamp on the GTI MK6 being $2000, is it possible to change the standard headlamp to Xenon when the car is picked up? In other words it would not be factory fitted but rather be installed later.. Will it be cheaper, will it mess up the electronics in the car, which installer is recommended for this type of install (Xenon installation), price?
I doubt you could retro fit the lights, for less than the factory cost. Unless you bought them from a rear ended car at a breakers. Either way there would be headaches to overcome.

Depending on where you source the parts and how much work you do yourself you would be looking at $3000-$6000 to do the swap. Allow 1.5 days for a pro and 3-4 days if doing yourself.
The retro fit kits from ebay etc are both dangerous and illegal (no matter what lies the seller says about them being legal they're not) - Retrofitting Xenons (HID) Lighting to reflector housings

You would also need the following;
- Projector Headlights
- Auto Leveling Headlights
- Headlight Washers
And obviously a lot more...
Or you can be like all the other fools on the road that put a $30 eBay HID Kit in and blind all other road users...Please don't be another one!

No you need to purchase the led tail lights from VW, I think they're around $800-1000 at the moment.
Fitting led modules into housings designed for incandescent bulbs ends up with a reduced light output and the modules are not that well constructed to deal with the constant vibration in a car (ie they will fail early).

I know that people have obtained the Xenon headlights from VW Spares or a rear-ended write-off and fitted them to their MKV.
However, there are questions about the 'Auto-leveling' of the headlights and also the lack of 'headlight washers' which at least in Europe would be illegal (I'm not sure if lack of headlight washers with Xenons is illegal in Australia or not).
For the MK6 you have the further complication of the 'cornering' ability of the lights. Is additional cabling or software required for that etc?
So yeah, I think that if you want it, get it fit on your factory order.
If not, talk to a dealer as they are probably the only one who could give you accurate information as to the requirements of upgrading to Xenon's after the car has left the factory.
