I just saw these scuff plates on eBay for about 50 bucks landed. It's claimed to be made of stainless steel is that correct xblode? Does the door close fine with these stripes on? I'm thinking whether these are of acceptable quality and presentation as I would like to have scuff plates on my upcoming GTI. Silly VW not offering GTI scuff plates even as an option!

I thought those are just normal Golf scuff plates with Golf written across it? My dealer said there isn't one with GTI written on the scuff plates

The SS scuff plates are naff.
Once they are scuffed, they look even worse.
Like Corey mentioned, cheapest and best thing to do is to cover it with 3M Ventureshield.

Those look alright.. Still looks a bit disjointed though.

I don't mind the ones that sit on the paint that are more subtle, they may not do as much though.

Defeats the purpose if you have to drill holes, as that's worse than a few scuffs.

Don't think they are meant to sit over the door rubber like in the second pic though, you'd get more rattles from this too.

They are stainless. They look great but as commented in this thread, they really aren't scuff plates as they sit over the rubber trim. This is fine for me as it was more for bling than function.

The doors close fine. You'll have to apply your own two sided tape as the tape they came with isn't enough. For an easy $50, it's worth it.
