I had a milltek on the R32 and that didn't even drown out the stereo (admittedly after market stereo too but never felt i needed it that loud).

OK folks, just got home. I know, its mid-night. I guess this is the first sporty car I have driven. Previous cars was Merc ML and was driving my wife's XC60 T6 until today. The turbo in the Volvo was quiet unless I floored it. The GTI seems to have this humming noise that I guess I have to get use to. I actually enjoying the car with the stereo system off. This car is indeed sweet and seems to reach 100km very quickly

The DSG fart/pop is a cool sound, i'd prob like listening to the car than to the stock stereo .

Sounds like you should do an aftermarket stereo upgrade if music is of importance.. My setup was high end and the difference was amazing.

So now we've established that this thread has nothing to do with the sound system, DonkeyKong, do you wanna suggest a better name? Otherwise I'll rename it myself

I'm thinking "GTI engine note overpowering ?" or something like that.

coreying, I can see that you have been promoted to Moderator or maybe I was a poor observer. I agree that the title should be changed and be my guess. I finally have gone through the boring user manual. It was challenging.

Re: GTI! Yeah. Sound system hmm..

The mk6 have better sound insulation than mk5 too, so don't really see the problem?? Just go some after market speakers, amps and sub and prob fixed.

The DSG fart/pop is EXACTLY why I'm purchasing a GTI. Sound system carefactor . . . . zero.

It's good to have both kinds of noise ideally.

    Agreed.

I think some folks would say that the mk5 engine sounds better than the mk6 (less insulation in mk5 might have something to do with it and perhaps the mk5 engine is also a bit more aggressive).
