    GTI Advice Please

Hi, I know this could be one of those subjective threads as it's a little dependent on view points but I wanted the pick the collective brains here.

I'm after a GTI and have two options..1st is a second hand Mk 5, 2006, with sunroof that has 15 000 on the dial and is available for about $28 000.

My second is a brand new Carbon Steel, Mk VI GTI with sunroof and Dynaudio for $42 000.

So I'm wondering, which one would you get?

    Thanks!

Mate this question simply comes down to budget.

If you can afford the extra $200 in monthly repayments, why wouldn't you go the new GTI?

    I would go the Mk5.

For a daily there isn't much difference between them and you save a tonne of money that could be spent on mods.

Also, if the MK6 is to be built, there is a 6 month wait on delivery.
And dynaudio isn't really worth the upgrade unless you are an audiophile imho.

It's all about your budget really. The MK V has already dropped alot of it's depreciation so you're saving additional money there.

I had the cash and had been waiting an extra year to buy the mark VI when it was released so it was a decision I made some time ago.

Either car would be great, it's just a matter of how much you want to spend and which generation of car you prefer.

I can understand why people in a MK5 wouldnt bother upgrading to the MK6. Imean after speanding all that money on a Mk5 i wouldnt bother upgrading a few years later to something that isnt completely different.

But if you have the choice and the cash.. The MK6 is a much nicer car full stop. Much more refined and the cabin quality and cabin tech is much better.. and to me they look heaps better (with 18" Detroits )

Basically if you have the cash, i dont see why you would settle for a MK5??

    Thats what i think anyway

The MK5 would most probably be out of warranty! (depending on first date registered)...

Thanks for all your posts guys, I appreciate it.

ripblade the Mk V is a 5 door, both would be, has cloth seats with DSG. I'd actually prefer a manual and the VI would be if I buy it.
