Ive been burnt with my Mk4 (2004).. it was out of warranty and EVERYTHING went wrong. I got it all repaired at VW and it cost me a fortune! I would have kept it if i was sure other things wouldnt go wrong.. but they gave me warnings about other repairs required so I didnt blow another dollar. I thought id rather put that money towards something new. Hence my "extended factory warranty" !! lol

I hope this VW treats me well because i think i will lose all faith in VW if this GTI causes me pain!:brutal:

How do you get a "brand new Carbon Steel, Mk VI GTI with sunroof and Dynaudio for $42 000"? That sounds very cheap.

Indeed. The Mark VI price seems pretty keen so depreciation will not be huge in the first couple of years.

It certainly comes down to budget, but all things being equal, I would rather suffer higher depreciation than pay higher running costs.

I'm thinking he was thinking that is what he could bargain down to, but he has only looked at the RRP instead of the 'on road cost'.

Onroad for that car in 5 door would be ~$49,430. There's no way you'd get that discounted down to $42,000.

Nope.. more like $45-46k.

Guys I've negotiiated it for $42 000, on the road. But having said that it does include a trade on on my old car of $4 000.

Ok.... so it's $46,000, plus $4000 back for your old car.

You'd still get money back on your old car if you sold it privately and bought the 2nd hand GTI... in fact, you'd probably get more back privately!

Yep $46000 sounds a lot more realistic.

Go for the Mark VI, you know you want to.

lol Zaul - why bother initially trying to make out like the car was negotiated for $42k when there was a trade involved.

Talk about giving people the wrong impression. Thankfully you come through with the truth. As I said, $46k.
