Does it do it with the hand brake on and the car parked?
Hi everyone,
I've been driving my Golf VI 118 TSI for one month now, and I've noticed an intermittent loud grinding noise when I get into my car especially if the car is parked on a slight incline.
I've brought up the issue at the dealer and was told it was probably because it's a new car and should resolve itself.
Should I be worried about the grinding noise? Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes it does. The grinding noise is only when the car is parked, I don't have any problems going over railway tracks/speed humps
Without hearing or seeing it, it's probably just the handbrake pads making a noise cause you haven't pulled it on hard enough and the car is trying to creep.

Is it when you first sit into the car? Could it be the suspension making the noise? Try rocking the car it may just be the shock absorber rubber.

Try this when parking:
1 DSG in parking position
2 Foot of brake - slowly
3 When car stoped (usually short adjustment to DSG brake) pull handbrake

Won't that put stress on the gearbox if you are parked on a hill ? (assuming that DSGs have the same sort of mechanism to stop movement of the car when Park is selected as conventional autos). This could make it difficult to move the gear selector out of park if the stopping mechanism is holding the weight of the car.
