Golf VI 118 TSI DSG - clutch pack replacement cost

Does anybody know what's the cost of replacing the clutch pack for 7speed DSG if I were to pay cash at VW Service centres?

My understanding is that the mechatronics is about $2,500 (part only or part and labour?), engine is about $11,000, but not sure how much for the clutch pack.

I had the engine and mechatronics replaced, plus the clutch pack twice, and then some other parts too.

    Assessing my situation ...

Maybe just ring a dealer that you don't usually visit and ask them

Thanks guys. Got in touch with a few dealers today, but none of them could give me the exact price. They all have told me that it's about 7-8 hours labour (some $1,000 - 1,200) plus parts, but neither could provide the parts cost. One mentioned that they would cost roughly $600 but that's as far as I've got.

I also asked about the cost of the mechatronics replacement, and it comes out it's around $5,600 - sheeeesh.

And to think the DSG is only a $2500 option (assuming MT isn't worth $4100+)

New 7 speed mechatronics with 2 year warranty $2400, factory rebuilt with 1 year warranty $1500.

7 speed clutch sets (factory replacements) $1200 - $1500 depending on version.

If you need any bit's or pieces

P.S. labour is about 8 hours to replace a clutch pack, about 2 to replace mechatronics

    Thanks Guy_H

So essentially the mechatronics would be some $2,700 and the clutch set $2,400-$2,700 including parts and labour, assuming $150 p/h labour cst. Is this VW dealer service centre cost or of a 'third party' service centre?

Most of our dealers (independent VW specialists) are around $110 - $130 per hour (some cheaper).

Take that into consideration, also doing a clutch swap is cheaper than an equivalent manual, but they don't have the mechatronics mind you!
