I assume you have read the many threads by owners going through the pains of warranty repairs
Personally, I enjoy my VW but I feel for the many who have had and are having ongoing "issues" with their Golfs
There is nothing from VW or from rumours of the new Golf that addresses any of those concerns.

All this talk about the forthcoming Golf R ... lightweight components such as alloy wheels & alloy brakes, more weight saving in the body panels ... eletro-mechanical front & rear diff with electric Haldex Gen 5 pre-empting the need for power to be suffled to the rear end. No mention any large KO4 turbo, but the Golf R weighing in at 1200kgs, the KO3 would be plenty good in higher state of tune. Any KO4 for the new EA888 motor would have to have the exhaust manifold cast as part of the turbo unit as per KO3 EA888 GTI motor:

1200kgs for the Mark 7 Golf R is a whopping 300kgs lighter than the MK6 Golf R.

I can't believe they will be able to remove 276 kilograms from the current cars weight @ 1476 MT 1496 DSG. Did Eddie Obeid tell you that ?
Edit: read that, they are on drugs much as I wish it to be true![]()
^Neither can I. I was expecting about 90-130kgs worth of weight saving. There is a possibility that the Golf R and special Ed Carbon Golf GTI will be built in an exclusive factory that churns out the petrol-electric MK7 Golf with additional weight saving measures, but 276kgs is a lot to lose from one model variant to another. The pics pretty much show how the forthcoming Golf R will look ... a bit more conservative & sedate than the MK7 Golf GTI imo.
Cheers.

You mean like how it is on the 2013 S3 then:
The new S3 also weighs "no more than 1,395 kilograms", or 60 down on the previous model. The R might get a more substantial weight cut, but there's just no way it's going to be anything like 200kg lighter than an S3.Originally Posted by Audi

I'm pretty sure one of the 1.8TSi Skoda guys runs a K04 on is his EA888. He didn't sound like he did a lot of hunting around to get it.
I agree re weight. They'll have to spend a lot of money to drop 250kg & not make the car into something that breaks more than it does already (or affect NVH substantially)
