hmmm crippled Subaru Liberty in a Datsun 240z shell for 30 grand.. have to spend a but to get that thing to perform.. sure it will drift in the wet but you are going to have to wring its neck to get any joy.

You obviously know nothing about the car or are trolling. The weight distribution is 53/47 which is perfect balance, the engine is mounted lower than that of a R35 GTR and only a couple of mm off a LFA even. The centre of gravity lower than a Porsche Cayman.
The steering feel is very direct and a short ratio and the overall response from the car is fantastic.. no I havent driven one but when you read/watch 15+ reviews from very reputable journalists and motorsport icons and see the genuine excitment on their faces whats not to beleive? And they can drift in the dry very easily mate.
Of course they arent about perfect interior quality they are about response/feedback and bringing the joy back into driving whic they have done at a fantastic price... sure they arent a powerhouse but if ppl complain about the straight line power they are totally missing the point of the car.
Ps: The first batches are sold out in quiete a few markets already Australia included.

You can be a hater, doesnt mean you know what your on about.

*yawn*.. amazing how some folk can get so emotional about a car that isn't even in circulation yet.. could it be the hype..

Yeah yeah, quote the paperwork.. have you ever driven a Subaru Liberty.. 4 , 6 or turbo, there is nothing under 3 grand and then to get it to perform you have to spank it until the pistons are denting the front wings.

It has the weight distribution of an MX-5.. sure they are a great drive and if you have the top down it even feels like it is going fast.

I aint no hater, just not a hype believer... seems you mistake the two

That's half the fun though in this type of car

The R just doesn't have that so I'd really like one of these for the weekend

Heck, even my daughters Swift (1.4) is an absolute hoot to drive like this. The 86 even better.

As much as I love my R, the 86 looks better, probably outhandles it. Downsides are, way less power and torque, no AWD, none of the niceties. I would never replace my R with one but I am looking at one as a second car.

Yep, the Renault will be better value 2nd hand - as it should be. Believe me, having come from two Renault sports to the R, you are in danger of your kids thinking the local Renault mechanic is their dad. They saw him around more than they saw me

It aint hard to believe that a 1200kg car with such a low centre of gravity, stiff chassis, high reving engine and RWD would be fun. It is exciting to me personally as I have had heaps of fun in similar designed cars and I guess its great to see that in the modern world there is still a car being released which is simple and raw without all the weight and safety police of many cars today.
Each to their own though I guess.
