WJ, I looked at your post, looked at the calendar and then at the time, I came to the conclusion that you got toasted mighty early on a Saturday night

WJ, Ray should look at the new Touareg if he wants executive class, should not Downgrade from a R32 to Hyundai.

Hyundai is on the rise when it comes to quality. Have a look at the new Kia Rio that's launching in Europe. On the other hand... Just watched Fifth Gear's review of VW's flagship, the Phaeton. Verdict: boring and already dated. Go figure, the most luxurious VW ever failed...
Not a Kia or Hyundai fan but I have to say that in this day and age laughing at Korean cars looks pretty stupid The European car manufacturers stopped laughing long time ago for some reason.

The quality of the Korean cars have certainly improved by leaps and bounds. I distinctly remember running my hand across the duco of a 1999 Hyundai Sonata at their showroom and there were bits of grit under the clear and there was a obvious orange peel finish to it. The Kias aren't too bad design wise, but the i45 just looks vulgar at every angle.

It's funny you mention the Koreans. They can't get enough of the Phaeton. They buy more Phaetons than they do Golfs, Jettas and Passats put together... in two weeks in Seoul, I only saw a handful of cars which weren't black, white, or some shade of grey inbetween. Why would VW change the Phaeton or make it fancier when it sells so highly in markets like that in it's current state?

Now this Thread ( below) seems to wrap up the whole R v GTI conversation.. why would you buy a GTI them mod it with all the R parts

    Just buy an R FFS

Well, the same could be said about Golf R. Why buy an R and then spend all that dough to cure under steer and improve handling? Just buy a drivers car FFS

What that guy does with his GTI is his business. Who cares about some American boy destroying the look of his GTI with some body kit anyway?
