hehe, and some tall stories too. We should give him a charity award also for donating money to a struggling VW dealer. Such a nice guy.

That was the best bit. He was over the delay, but then gave them $1000 for their trouble, even though he didn't have to.

    WJ, is Ray actually Jesus?

"Ray thinks the GTI is classier than Golf R in grown up appeal", seriously then why didn't Ray get a loaded GTI. WJ just because you like your GTI does not mean its better or classier. I currently drive a BMW 3 series and I think the Golf R is as classy or classier than the current BMW 3 series or 1 series. But I would not say that about a GTI.

I chose the Golf R after comparing the 135, Audi S3, for me how much I pay a month for the car was not an issue, as I would paid what I paying now for my 3 series for either the 135 or Audi S 3. But for me the drive, the engine sound, the clean but classy interior of the golf R won me over and for $ you pay it's the best value car in it's range. I actually read your reviews last year and it's a great review but the more I read your comments since then, I am glad I purchased the Golf R.

LOL but maybe WJ should be giving them $1k for their troubles as well. These guys are there to make a living like the rest of us. But busting their chops continually is being a prick IMO.

I just hope Ray doesn't buy a convertible. Would be a shame to mess up that hair.

Lol blue calipers is executive? A classy silver grill which isn't sporty at all all? Talking about an aftermarket satnav, what the hell is stopping this imaginary clown from swapping this super awesome mega happy funtime satnav to his new R? Did it ever occur to you that the black theme of the trim, mirrors etc is a current styling thing? Audi charges their customers a fair wack for the "black optics" look. But if you are getting that picky, find a local panel shop and have the bits painted in whatever is classy and executive! Not sure how a GTI looks classier or grown up, wouldn't the red trimmings scare the boring executive crowd with their silver 320i's and C200's?

So you and "ray" are going to waste the poor dealers time for another 2 years and then probably still not buy something? You were calling the Polo GTI the greatest car around before it even landed, now you're doing it with the next GTI? Must be the nicest dealer around because if I was running that place, I'd have gladly told you and your imaginary friend to **** off by now.

    An open letter to ray:

Hello Ray, it's nice to finally talk to you.
    1. Re your thinking a GTI is a executive choice. I have to say that in my workplace those selected into the executive team are not the young lads in accounts or IT that drive GTIs. No, far more taste must be displayed. We can't possibly have our execs running around in cars that scream "me too" or "try hard but must try harder"
    2. "have to compare with a blue R32?". Again, blue is so last decade and even our tea lady thinks blue calipers are crass and belong only on HSV ironmongery vehicles. Also, I don't "have to" compare any car to those blunted up, nose heavy dinosaurs.
    3. Our board has decreed that the golf R is superior in everyday to it's little GTI brother. The DNA is similar but the little one is "special needs" - needs generally provided by a run to your nearest tuning house with a cheque book and a fantasy.
    4. Ray, your descision to relinquish your apparent order just weeks before delivery after waiting, what, some eight months reveals a foolishness not wanted within an organization such as ours. Either that or your finances fell through. Neither reason befits a character that we could consider for executive roles.
    5. If your desire is to recind to the front wheel drive lesser sibling for that reason, then I understand that some feel (strangely) that front drive is superior. (quiet chuckle in board room) that religious belief is your right, but your loss
    6. If you still feel strongly about a front wheel drive consider purchasing the Megane RS (possibly in you price range) and enjoy blowing away the GTIs you meet, but again, don't expect an executive roll

    Sincerely

    Whistler
