    Mmmmm Honda powered Elise.

Got any pics? Sounds stunning. One car that is very close to the top of my bucket list.

Actually they were using Rover engines which were pretty much Honda engines and it wasn't too complex swapping it out for an Integra DC2R engine (also 1.. K20A from the new DC5R/Civic TypeRs are a wee bit more complicated. Those go like crap fast!!

Personally can't wait for the new Elise 2015.

Bit off topic but you've driven the DC2R and you think it's "asthmatic"? To this day I still think the DC2R is one of the best FWD cars out there and it would take something huge to knock it from that pedestal.

Exactly, one of the most rewarding drives and they are no slouch!

I personally rate the Pug 306 GTI-6 as the best fwd, just above it. But only just. Both cracking cars to drive.

Add the late model RenaultSport Clios and M100 series Elans to that FWD shortlist.

Original Mini Cooper S, not those BMW abortions, are always fun to drive as well.

    For Ideo:
    Car

    Engine

Just because I can; the tyre smoke in this picture is what I get when I turn off traction control in the GTI and get up it. Most fun I had in the GTI was 10 minutes of doing this several times per lap at Marulan. No way I could have that kind of fun with AWD. Biggest bummer was not being able to disable the stability control as well. It was interesting feeling how the car would react when provoked though. The feeling as the brakes pulled the car back into line was unsettling at first but the novelty soon wore off. I got a good sense of how it could help a lot of people, including me, when things go pear shaped.
If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

I just missed out on a dirt cheap Citroen Xsara VTS, which are a massively underrated car, for that kind of fun.

Banzai - stunning car. Looks great.
