    lol yeah...

    actually...

Going back a few posts to dave_r's question.... Golf R vs Golf GTI. Which one would I get now?
The Golf GTI... they no longer sell the 3 door Golf R in Australia, so that only leaves one option... the Golf GTI.

    Thread closed!

Yeah, 3 door Golf GTI is still available. They only stopped the 3 door R.
There are several blue's available for the GTI internationally... just not here. From what we've seen, you've got more chance of getting a non-standard colour than a non-standard body type :/

Did you read what the comment was referring to? The ridiculous claim that a stock GTI cannot put it's power down on the road which is absolute rubbish especially when you look at stage 2 and 3 GTI's getting around with no problems.

If someone is claiming that a GTI has too much power for it's drivetrain they're either an idiot or they haven't driven one.

and quite frankly upping the power on the GTI like crazy and leaving everything else stock or almost stock will render the car quite difficult to drive on the track and is a lot less easier than you make it out to be.
I don't recall anything about a GTI with crazy power.

Which goes back to the original statement... a golf r is much more capable of handling all the power upgrades with out significant modifications to other drive train components like suspensions wheels and tires etc.
The original statement was a stock GTI could not deliver all it's power on the road and you needed to buy an R to do this which is just plain rubbish.

Which is as far as I am concerned a complete load of rubbish. A lot of people arent able to put the power down on a powered up GTi.. purely because of its front drive characteristics and the fact a lot of people leave suspension and other drive train components as stock.
I have no idea what you're on but there was no talk of this crazy powered GTI you keep going on about, the discussion was about stock and the same applies to stage 1 and 2 in that if you can't get the power down on the road you can't drive or have never driven a GTI.

Correy's argument to that is look at the APR Golf R and GTI as an example and that if you cant handle it... you're a sook.

Corey seems to forget that your car handles so much better because its been set up to handle around a race track. thats what your cars are built for.
Is this some kind of sour grapes? The cars are setup just like anyone would set them up before sending them to the track so what's the problem?

Guy you know yourself a lot of customer cars have power ups galore but leave a lot of other drive train components alone.. and in a FWD car.. that doesnt make for happy times around a race track.
How many people who power up their car take it onto a race track? 5%? 10%? And this is a customer choice, if they don't want to do the the suspension they don't have to do it.

i've driven a heavily powered up FWD car around a race track with stock tires and no suspension mods.. and it was a complete prick of a car to get around the race track quickly.. and i would like to think i'm not exactly a complete dumbo around a race track and I can get a car around a race track pretty dam quickly..so if i find a heavily powered up FWD difficult to get around a race track quickly .. does it mean im a whinger?
Nope it just means you can't drive.

Frankly im surprised people find modified GTI's a handful if everything else is left alone...
Good you agree then, modified GTI's are fine even when everything else is stock.

Ok but really I cannot understand how or why one GTI owner let along two would say that unless they're lacking any motor skills and can only use the accelerator in the one position.
