p.s. When I say that a Superkart is seriously quick, I'm talking faster than V8 Supercar quick! The only things which have ever lapped Eastern Creek quicker than a Superkart are the A1GP and Formula Holdens... Not even the MotoGP (or predecessors) when they raced at Eastern Creek.
As far as 0-100 times go, i would be smoked by any .:R outside of a prepared drag strip... i'd give it a good shot, but it requires a VERY aggressive launch. The 110mph trap speed gives a better indication of the level of accelleration at the end of 400m.
I really like my GTI, even with the K04 introducing some delay in power delivery, it still feels like a go kart on the street, something the R does not. If i drive it normally, you would never know that there was 222kw waiting at the front wheels.
If you want to go SERIOUSLY quick, don't buy a VW... i'd suggest most people here wouldn't have the balls punt even a formula ford at 9/10ths around Eastern creek.
Superkart doesn't beat a 1000cc bike for 'fun factor' though! I have a drive of a 250cc superkart that was pushing about 80hp at the wheels I think pretty low power figure but in comparison to its weight it was pretty damn fast around a track, felt a bit more stable with it's four wheels and all but nothing beats the sensation of hitting triple digits on a 1000cc bike.
MKV GTI Pirelli
There is nothing that will beat a jap litre bike on the street. But i've seen the results of people coming off it and i like my seatbelt and airbags.
My point is that even though people don't consider them 'quick'... the formula ford lap record is 1.36.... which is bull**** quick for a slow car, thats serious testicles in the bendy stuff... 1.28's from superkarts.. no thanks..
Yeah, very true! I've had "car friends" (Brock and HSV owners) who've owned a Superkart and tried for two years to get up to speed and just cannot... they just don't have what it takes to commit to the corners. A work colleage who builds his own kart chassis says that this is a surprisingly common occurrence for people to go out and buy a superkart (since they're about the same price as a good Jap bike) and end up selling them shortly after due to this reason.
lol, yep, that's the conclusion to this thread adzy. Buy a 118TSI, and buy a superkart with your change and then go seriously fast where you're not going to lose your license...
