Only 40k pounds in Uk though.
remember the R is 30K.
So much better value there
If it's under $100k here, that'll be unreal...
Judging by the price jumps between the other S and RS variants of the same car, it'll be over $100k though

I thought the megane was about $50k drive away, that's still closer to a loaded gti than a base golf r
I've read the megane is awesome but damn that Renault resale
My Golf GTI was 50K drive-away.
Cheers

There u go, megane closer to gti than r
Like for Like in terms of options on my GTI : The Golf R was @ 53-53.5K drive-away.
There are people who have paid <$50k driveaway for their stock manual R....
You can option up many cars to be more expensive than the next model up - it doesn't change which car a stock car competes against:
Golf GTI 3 door manual: $38,990
Renault Megane Sport 250 Cup 2 door manual: $41,990
Renault Megane Sport 250 Cup Trophee 2 door manual: $46,990
Golf R 3 door manual: $48,490
So as dave- pointed out, the comparison is a bit useless as there is $8,000 between the GTI and the Cup Trophee. The GTI's competitor is the standard Cup, which is still $3,000 more expensive. The Cup Trophee is positioned against the R and comes in at $1,500 cheaper.
