These reviews are endless, and also fairly pointless. They essentially say the same things about each car, but different sources place greater emphasis on some attributes than others. Motor did a GTI vs 86 vs ST review and the former two tied; Wheels preferred the ST. This one prefers the Megane (although I'm sceptical of any review that just quotes manufacturer acceleration figures and doesn't do their own testing). It's really down to personal preference.

I thought Ray was buying a Megane ?

He seems to have a duplicate personality

^The decision on what to purchase changes on an almost weekly basis ... BMW, Merc, Kia, Mazda, Volkswagen, Lexus, Volvo, Audi, etc. The decision keeps coming back to Volkswagen, but there is not much point until the MK7 Golf arrives. Analysing the decision has been going on for over 3 years now; but thankfully no decision needs to be made until MK7 arrives.

The Renault RS265 doesn't have a DSG, does have poor dealer network and 3 x RenaultSports in national magazine reviews have left the track on a flatbed truck, with the last being a terminal blown engine. Most other makes don't have this problem.

Moving along ... I'm happy with my GTI, esp. now with geniune Volkswagen Driver Gear Sport lowering springs on DCC - haven't given up too much in overall ride comfort for much better handling - no rush to be putting down a deposit on a MK7 Golf or Polo GTI as was the case with MKV to MK6 Golf GTI. MK6 offered cheaper servicing with external water pump & chain driven camshaft so it's a better long term proposition.

    Cheers.

AMG head of engines and powertrains Friedrich Eichlers says all-wheel-drive will be offered across more models because getting the power to the ground via only the rear wheels can be a problem.
"...and front wheel drives are for children" he says.

Guess we can close this thread now? Lol

Does that mean AWD is for old people ?

    If so, fits my profile
