I suspect you've misunderstood me! Sorry... I mistakenly thought that the rumours about R owners being a bit "slow" were not true. My mistake...

I remember reading your post. What I was saying, was that I would suggest Red (as per your post)... BUT that it would clash with your dysmorphic looking exhausts. The problem you have is, they all clash!

To remove any further confusion for R owners... i'll use smaller words!

I will have you know we require hand puppets and when all else fails interpretive dance ... but now you have kindly broken it down in to almost monosyllabic words I get where you are coming from.. but stll remain confused as I just can't fathom how colour related to exhaust positioning.

However given you are a GTI owner/ Driver you must be right, please forgive me as I am only used to viewing your greatness from my rear vision mirror and used to seeing things backward

    Bfyb 2011

The Golf GTI Edition 35 would fit the bill for GTI owners wanting their GTI's to look & feel more like a Golf R. GTI Ed35 has the Golf R side skirts, rear lights, EA113 motor, arger KO4 turbo, and optional 19" wheels for the Golf R look and feel.

I've come across some information this weekend which suggests that the MOTOR Magazine BFYB 2011 issue is out now with the final standings being:

    1. Polo GTI
    2. Subaru WRX
    3. Renault Megane RS250.

Didn't see the new magazine out on the stand today. Is this correct info? If so; it shows how the competition has moved on in only 12 months. Last year the Golf GTI took the accolades with the Golf R scoring a podium in 3rd place. Neither Golf GTI or Golf R made the podium this year; that's if the info is correct?

Edit: I also see that the Ford Focus ST is due out in Aus in a few months featuring DSG dual clutch gearbox, electronic LSD diff and upgraded interior plastics & std equipment.

    Cheers.

Yes the info is correct.. and it is good to see the competition lifting its game. The Golf in GTI & R form is starting to date so they will surely have to lift their game to match the up and comers. Throwing more kit for the same money is a sales strategy that lasts only so long.

VW not having product available but getting awards is not helping

My understanding with BFYB is only the winner of the previous year comes back, so the R may not have been in the field only the GTI. Mind you, they change the rules all the time so possibly the previous podium came back.

    ----

To add to the R vs GTI debate, as can be seen I chose a GTI for a few reasons and none of them had anything to do with relative performance. Top of the list were availability (the R wasn't out in time for my preferred purchase timing), price (likely to have been too much of a budget stretch but the decision was made prior to the final pricing of the R was announced), boot space (as I do need the full amount of space occassionally) and lastly I wasn't a fan of the black plastic on the steering wheel. The last one was never going to be a deal breaker.
