Well ethosguy, no disrespect or anything, but unless you're actually Gordon Murray or something in real life, I suggest you have a look at who Chad Knaus is, cause I'm pretty sure he knows better than you ;)
Having said that, you sure wouldn't want to be doing that in any normal car at all, and you sure wouldn't want to be doing that in even a race car unless you reaaaally knew what you were doing.

I wouldn't know the entire reason for not using the EA888 but I am of the opinion that due to some issues with the EA888 they decided to use the EA113 engine for these cars because it would cost less time and money to build them.Quote:

It's sad when people cant admit that the GTI they purchased is not the best Golf, if you loved golf's so much why would you not buy the Golf R if you could afford it or if you cant, get the GTI Ed 35 which seems like a great little machine for the price. WJ I like your reviews but if someone had $50k to spend on a car I would always tell them to go for a standard Golf rather than GTI.
This logic is flawed, just because the r is more expensive, doesn't mean it's better for every car buyer. Using commodores as an example, would the grange be better for a bogan than say the gts? Both r commos, one is more than the other, both r similar yet different.Quote:

For me the answer was easy, gti was the better car for my needs.

I tip my hat to the GTIs both new and old when I am out and about and still think they are a neat looking piece of kit. To be clear if the money issue was removed from the table and the keys to an R and a GTI were there for the taking there would be a race for the R keys. The same can be said for all the different car ranges not just VW.. it is human nature :)
Now back to appreciating both these great cars in whatever form they take
