And what do you think the Rs are for?? Dude ive had a 1300kg 425 HP car.. Used to polish my car by hand every sunday. Have owned a million different turbo and performance cars.. I consider my self a car/driver/your mum enthusiast. All this nonsense of expert marketers telling everyone what cars a made for is a joke. The R is for people who wanted an R. A performance hot hatch. Just like TopGear chose it for it's Hot Hatch of the year.

One could also say, the Renaults are designed for people who couldn't afford to ride Virgins new shuttle launch.

They look like a space ship. The R is built brick solid and looks tough.. With just the right amount of details to it.

And yes bruz, I wish the world was full of R's. I wish the postie didn't walk and drove the mail around. I wish the pizza guy had one. I even wish the picked up my garbage In one.

    Dude,

I don't know how you could have gotten upset over what I wrote but I'll enlighten you on a few things....

I was one of the first to write about how good the R is (in comparison to the GTI) having test driven the car in Mar 2010 (in Singapore) before most people had. And as a result, I was attacked by MkVI GTI owners for doing so - one when to the extent of attacking my credibility and motives for doing so.

I know (as everyone does now) that you love your R. But you are getting too defensive about it. There are other cars out there that are better in certain areas than the R. You are carrying on now like some of the MkVI GTI owners did before. i.e. that the R is perfect and that it is better than any car out there. This is seriously childish behaviour/thinking.

I love my Pirelli but in no way am I deluded into thinking it is the best car on the road.

The post of mine that you quoted was an attempt to diffuse a situation - several other members were attacking sabloke for his views (which I do not particular agree with in total).

Having been in a similar situation several times, I can understand how rabid some fanboys can be and was trying to diffuse situation (lynch mob).

So chill. The R is a great car. But it ain't perfect.

Damn straight i love my car. But you see the only thing that ****s me is that people like you want to make sure I don't think my ride is perfect. And why not? I love the car.. Am passionate enough to post every day with all you lot on here about it. I had the cash and tested a ton of cars before i bought it. So to me it was no rush decision. I had nearly 8 months to make sure withe money i had it was the best i could buy. And to me it clearly was.

So why can't I think it's perfect? Why is that childish just being happy with what you have bought. I think it's better than EVERY car in it's class. But I don't think it's better than say.. A 335. Or a Boxter. Or obviously a Ferrari/Lambo.

But mate it's better than a Renault or a GTI and it's priced accordingly. And I liked it better than everything under $100k.

Whether it is or isn't do you see me talking about the pirelli being crap or not? Do you see me starting a GTI vs R thread? Or a Pirelli vs R thread?

I only post in here cause after a few pages of "the GTi is just better at this, better at that.." it's like, FFS it's the same car.. But one is just the better model. Period. And for not much more coin, depending on your situation.

Do you see Holden SS owners going on about how the SS is better than a Clubbie or GTS?? You'd hope not.

Do you Carrera owners bagging the turbo model..?

Now it's resorted to bringing in the Focus.. Then the Megane owners now. FFS what more do you want mate.

And of course.. It's the people who don't have the R that all of a sudden have such great interest..in everything against the R.

So yeah, I am ****en chilled but there is a point where I just want to enjoy my friggin car that I shelled for.

And I guess everyone can relax with being an overnight marketing executive.

Excuse me? When did I try to make you not love your car??

Haven't you read a thing I have written? I was one of the first proponents of the R - to the point of being labelled a fanboy because of it.
    So your comment :

Damn straight i love my car. But you see the only thing that ****s me is that people like you want to make sure I don't think my ride is.

    is just ridiculous!
It is perfect for you/in your mind perhaps but it is not perfect. NOTHING in this world is perfect.

well in my mind is the only place it needs to be perfect!

Don't you have a wife/girlfriend/car that despite all things negative.. There is that much good.. It's just perfect?

Anyway mate I'm sorry if you had been sticking up for the R. I don't mean any harm.

Some things in life are perfect. Even if they don't last forever.

I find this just a tad hypocritical:

I don't want to start another slinging match here, but bloody hell. These cars are all great, suit different buyers' needs and preferences; why does anyone need to undermine another person's choice? "The R's better than the GTI", "the RS250's better than the R"... it's the same futile argument over and over again. Let's all agree we have our own legitimate views, and move on.

Fantastic point; couldn't agree more. Let's enjoy our cars and be happy that what we've bought suits our needs.

(And before anyone comes back with this as another GTI fanboy comment, no - I love the R. Reckon the RS250 is a great car too. Would love driving either.)

I understand where you are coming from. The R is perfect for you and your situation.

But nothing is perfect and one should acknowledge it. It is the only mature thing to do.

I know my Pirelli is not perfect - it is perfect for me and my needs - but it is not the perfect car. There are things I would improve. e.g. suspension . Even then, there will be other cars and drivers that will run rings around it (in lesser cars).

Even if the Pirelli was better than most cars on the road, I am not perfect and would probably not be able to utilise all of it's abilities - in saying that I don't think I am even scratching the surface as it stands now.

The same applies to the R. It could be the best out there but are you ever going to utilise it's abilities to the fullest? Would you ever make use of a 1 sec improvement in performance in everyday life? It's all numbers otherwise - to stoke one's ego. Like playing trump cards.

    Let it go.
