As for the DCC stuff, I did the usual run to the missus place twice today over a few rubbish railway crossings. Funnily enough DCC in the normal mode and 19's felt far more comfortable than her Polo with sports pack. However quick or slow it reacts, it's doing a damn good job of making a firm yet comfortable ride!
    Quality assurance?
I assume they have to test the cars around the block to make sure that everything is in working order and to make sure there are no unusual noises.

Get ya hand off it, how hard are they going if they're able to tell a noticable difference in grip levels?

    I don't know.
I was just offering an opinion as to why they may have been driving the cars.

I didn't say it was right for them to be testing them to such a level of performance.

I think it's easier to just goto a specialist independent who actually has some respect for your car and business.

With aftermarket suspension upgrades on the old MKV GTI, I encouraged my service managers to take out the GTI for a drive on an extended route travelling on varied roadways to experience the change in chassis tune and the variation in low-speed and high-speed compression and rebound damping.

I’m told that when all the mechanics at my local dealer see the adjustable coilover suspension – they’re all vying for a drive. In the past, only allowed two service managers and head mechanic and second in charge mechanic drive the old modified GTI.

On delivery of the MK6 GTI six months ago, the head mechanic at my local dealer was one of 20 Volkswagen mechanics to have completed every course that Volkswagen technical run. He is one of the few mechanics in Australia that has the ability to rebuild DSG gearboxes and has rebuilt the DSG for that dealership and other dealers several times over.

Any dramas with my GTI, I know my local dealer is practically a one stop shop. It’s also good for my service guys to gain an appreciation of the pit-falls of the modifying a Golf – issues like spring bind, tug’n’release, incorrect ride height and/or wheel offset - as well as experiencing quality TUV approved aftermarket gear that won't void my warranty in most repsects. Service managers and head mechanics are in a better position to assist others that come into the dealership with similar issues imo.

    Cheers

No issues there if you've given them permission and encouraged it but the original comment sounded like they were having a "go" of anything modified that came in!
