You essentially got the options for free then?
On roads are slightly cheaper than normal but major difference is options.

So, I'm looking to buy an 'R' (upgrading from my current TDI!), and test drove both the GTI and R today.
I didn't try and negotiate but was given pretty standard prices of $58k for the DSG + ~ $5,500 for leather + sunroof (so approaching $64k). That obviously is just bulk standard pricing.
I've read through the thread here but any idea what is a good deal for that sort of requirement list? Would I expect to be paying more like $57k?
Note that I don't have corporate but have a history with the dealer of having serviced through them too.
Great, thanks. Who was this through?
I love the look of this one: 2012 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF R DSG 4-MOTION VI MY13 Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au - carsales.com.au -- love the colour and 19" combined. But it's $68k [!] starting price.
So, would appreciate some feedback on current arrangements.
Looking to buy an R, DSG, with leather, no other options, for $57k, on the 1.5% finance arrangement. I think it seems quite reasonable (based on the current finance offer) - I think I could only get it lower if it was all cash.
I think you can do a tad better, I got my options listed below for roughly that, swap the leather for the sat nav and I got the MDI and ACC as well. But don't lose sleep over it, I got a corp discount and paid cash so could have swung things my way a bit. Just a tip don't go over $57K as it bumps the lux tax and that gets applied to all the options

OK, thanks. Isn't the MDI included now? Also, thought LCT kicked in at $59k.
They don't seem too keen to negotiate much below that (because I'm financing); although they've given an OK price for trade-in for my current vehicle. I'm exploring other options with other dealers though, because ideally I would have wanted a couple of other options (at the moment, limited by what is available).
Might also check out some inter-state dealers.
My partner thinks we should wait for the MKII R though, but I'm not sure I really want to wait another ~ 2 years.
You could be right on the LCT, mine is a couple of years ago now. I wouldn't wait for the MK7 R , it will take years to be released and then the 9 month wait on top of that, by that time you could have had 3 years of R joy
As I said it isn't a bad price and if the unit is ready to go now take it and run, you wont give it a second thought once it is in your posession
