In talking to Mathew yesterday, he's had people call when the order has been less than a month past the ETA, which was initially 6 months. So the total wait would have been 7 months and they're canceling.. quite puzzling considering it was always going to be at least a 6 month wait...
I put my order in September 1st, and was given a late Feb delivery date, which seems to be still on the target. It wasn't a "can't wait issue", I ordered specifially requesting a Feb delivery cause I had to sell our TTS and I didn't want 4 cars between the wife and I, 3 is more than enough.

It has been a week of discussion for the missus and I.... We have a 3 year old E92 M3 and have ordered the R to replace our 14 month old TTS. Within days of placing the R order we found out that the BMW 1M was coming to Aus in "limited supply" so we placed an EOI on pne thinking at the time that it would be a great replacement for the M3. I love the M3 so much, the V8 growl and it's looks so after much debate we decided to keep it and go forward with the 1M and not take the R. My wife said she would prefer the 1M, as do I, so ........

Thanks for sharing. We would never know what is the story otherwise.

I am bloody jealous of course - what a delicious predicament to be in. Cancelling to get the 1M instead is perfectly understandable.

Cheers mark, Fully expect to get flamed by BM haters so I kept things discreet, anyway, the R is a nice car AND @ a very different price point, in this country at least.

Enjoy your Rs guys, I know I wouldn't be disappointed if we had taken delivery

Well, you won't get any lip from me. We have a number of BMWs in our wider family. Personally have owned e46 and e90 very recently. So I know 1M would be awesome.

I do think in OZ, BMW are overpriced. Imagine if we can get it at US prices...

Yeah we bought a fully optioned 3 series coupe, and they are just a brilliant car all round. Some of the speeds I have been able to do in that car (on my mates track), is unbelievable for a simple passenger car.

Tbh it felt more stable above 200km/h than the STI I have driven on the same long sweeping bend. The BMW I got to 225km/h ( with one hand - the other one was recording!!), where the STI felt sketchy as, at two hundred even.

And the build.. Our one is maybe 7 years old now (only 45k KMs on it), and still requires a massive pull on the door to get it closed, and if you forget, it just half closes and requires the effort all over again.

I know the e92s are a lot more tinnier/lighter on the build (which BMW sell as "lighter for better fuel economy").. But they still have a nice enough shape ( I've grown to love it's sleekness now, and it's tuning ability!! but when it first came out we were gob smacked at how boring it was in anything less than the 335 with 19s compared to the e46).

My old man might be upping this year, and has always wanted an M3, but neither of us can get over C63s sound (or looks).

I might be taking him for the 3 killers on test drives of the rs4, m3 and c63 to get the raw deal!

Anyway,no doubt the 1M is going to be spastic good in the smaller car segment, and a much more expensive car than the R, but they still look like a 1-series which I have (publicly) never been a fan of.

    Sorry, OT a bit.
Yep, the sound of C63 is orgasmic. But what got me was a silver beast, as below, blasted past me two days ago at North Shore. Man, I am still dreaming of that sound.

Jesus christ its beautiful. Apparently its around $450K plus onroads? (add $70K ??) lol in our dreams.. we'd have to sell a house to get that. That is truly truly a machine.. another level..

The only one I have seen on the road.. is on a poster at the front of the Mercedes Mosman dealership every second day.

Best sounding car I have heard on the road.. so many.. but one that sticks out.. I was giving my car a little squirt at the time.. I cant even remember what I was in!

It was a MERC.. and it was a 2-door.. one of the BIG ASS coupes.. and I remember it was one of the V8 supercharged off its head AMG things.. top of the line model like a SL65 or something AMG.. and everytime it floored it over the spit bridge I just blew my load.

Best sounding car I have ever heard and I have been in some awesome cars..
{a Ferrari (x2), porsches (in a few carrera's and one turbo) a Maserati decked out sports cup type model.. one of those AMG AWD 09 model.. and ofcourse all the kinky Ferrari and Lambos you hear on the road..

    (and a LAMBO at HiTech!!)..}

This thing was intense (and I am obviously not including exhaust system'd or worked/modified vehicles)

Damn I love cars too much!!
