If it's in stock and its been there for a while then it really should be cheaper due to floor plan allowances. Just depends on how keen the dealer is to negotiate (there are actually quite a few Rs floating around in dealer stock if you're a little bit flexible on what you want) or how much they want your business.

I picked up my new 3 door R in silver with DSG and sunroof inclusive of tint (probably the last one left around the place) for pretty well $50K even while showing a discount of $8008.36 which is apparently even more than fleet buyers get. It was an older MY11 car with a mid 2011 compliance but it was pretty well exactly what I wanted and as I wanted a car quickly it fit the bill.

Was offered a newly arrived DSG White MY12 for circa $52.5K as well if my memory serves me correctly but would need to find and check my notes to be doublely sure.

How did you get such a great price? I'm just about to sign for a black R DSG 4 door, leather, sunroof, 19s for $63,300 drive away in VIC (I haggled down from $67,890) Car is getting built next month and should be here early SEPT. I might have been able to haggle a bit more but I can say there was def not more then a couple hundred left in it. I even had a mate who is a VW corporate member who is best mates with a dealership owner take me to see him say it would be around $62k drive away, if they could secure one, which they couldn't unless I wanted to wait 12 months. R we getting ripped off in VIC? hell for 8k savings i will go anywhere! I have paid the deposit but I have not signed the contract yet! def having 2nd thoughts about this now. Please someone tell me my deal is actually OK???

Wow, good price. Mine was the same price with no leather I don't really have good negotiation skills.

Keep in mind when you are posting prices that Leased vehicles don't pay GST so make sure you call that out to those who think they have just been shafted

Some people here have been getting great prices.

I'm picking up my Golf R this weekend - no waiting time, was in stock apparently, from Camberwell VW, with the following options -

    Pearl black
    DSG
    Black 19' Talledegas
    Tint
    Euro plates

All for 54k driveaway and yes its err, very black - the original price was 61k, they dropped it to 56k to avoid luxury car tax (they were adamant they could't drop it more), so I got them to drop another 2k off that.

They did give me an average price on trade in however for my old 4 door Nissan R32 Skyline GT-ST - it had its fair share of issues, but 500 they offered was a bit too low - was hoping for 1.5k from the dealer, obviously the car goes for a fair bit more 2nd hand, even with it's issues.

Anyway Camberwell were actually quite good, their finance guy was quite sharp and didn't try to sell me BS, rates were very competitive compared to other quotes I had already obtained.

I'd pretty much ruled out getting a Golf R due to the crazy wait times and had been speaking with Serge from Morabbin Barlowworld to get a GTI in the specs I was after - really decent guy to be honest, and I'm actually disappointed that we never did business, but I had to jump on getting an R.

I was also quoted 56K for a GTI from Burwin Volkswagen, with pretty much the standard options that the Golf R came with and checked out a Scirocco R, but I personally couldn't live with the 12 month wait and complete lack of rear vision for an everyday drive (yeah I'd be too worried about parking it, even with sensors - Serge also informed me that Morabbin Barlowworld have a Black Scirocco R in stock if anyone is interested).

I have to say, I'm really looking forward to picking up my Golf R, it will be a heap of fun to drive and I'm pretty pleased with the driveaway price and service at Camberwell, despite some very average online reviews and the wait time to speak to a sales consultant (I went on a Saturday, it was very busy)

Anyway sorry for the long ass and slightly sidetracked post, but because of the info other members have provided it really helped with my new purchase.

    Cheers
